Hey there ! This is Camille and Laure here…
Some might know us as the “Saltimbanques”, from the name of our previous boat. For 17 years we sailed around with our beloved 28 footer, juggling between our professional life and our passion for offshore sailing. We had some nice adventures around the Atlantic, the Baltic sea and the Nordics – as well as intense and fulfilling careers.
Passionate about the sea of course, but not only. Nature and the great outdoors in general is our playground. Norway was an obvious choice to settle in, when we returned from the Atlantic in 2012, while waiting to leave again, “for real” this time. We feel at home in this country, both professionally and culturally. Our boat is named after the quintessentially Norwegian expression : “ut på tur, aldri sur”!
We couldn’t dream of a better life onshore: a nice house in a convenient suburb in Oslo, amazing jobs, great friends, and all kind of options for skiing, hiking, sailing, kayaking always accessible… amongst some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Roots were starting to grow, and take hold in that rocky earth as fast as the raspberry plants in our garden. But, as with any compromise, this life had a taste of incompleteness. The call of the open sea and our nomadic souls could no longer be ignored.
So, now, we take the plunge. Now is good, while the treasure chest is heavy enough, and before health starts limiting our dreams… Long gone is the time when we belonged to the exclusive club of the “less than 30 years on less than 30 feet”. Years have passed, and it’s time to embrace our status of grown-ups, “more than 40 years on – just under – 40 feet”. But nomads roving the seas, this we remain… we are the “På Tur” always looking for new adventures!
And why this blue-footed boobie?
